Over the weekend, Gainesville resident Christopher David Daugherty, 46, was arrested for an alleged sexual assault that was recently reported by his underage victim.
Police say that the abuse happened in Prince William County between August 2017 and last month on more than one occasion while the minor was under the age of 18.
The victim came forward recently to a school counselor, who contacted the police and launched an investigation with an assist from Child Protective Services.
Daugherty was arrested on Saturday and charged with:
- Rape;
- Four counts of aggravated sexual battery;
- Five counts of indecent liberties;
- Forcible sodomy.
He's being held without bond and his court date is pending, according to police.
